Gently Move Around
While it may be tempting to stay in bed and keep out of sight for a few weeks, it is important that you gently move around every day to prevent blood clots. Get up, go downstairs to get a glass of water, and then carefully lay back down. Though you may feel like you can’t stand up or do too much at once, know that your body is working to heal itself.
Skip the Gym & Any Strenuous Activities
The first few weeks after your plastic surgery procedure, it is best to avoid working out and participating in any strenuous activities. Your body needs time to heal and may be too weak to perform the movements that you desire.
Refrain From Smoking or Vaping
Before and after any surgery, whether it’s plastic surgery or not, it is important to refrain from smoking or vaping. Smoking and vaping may increase your risk of complications, as it puts an immense strain on your lungs, heart, and your body’s general ability to heal.
Use Ice Packs and Compressions Wraps to Ease Discomfort
Last but not least, know that it’s completely normal to feel some pain and discomfort after your plastic surgery. In order to ease the pain and get through the recovery process, use ice packs and compression wraps.
If you are considering surgery or are scheduled for surgery, keep these tips in mind when creating your recovery plan.
